Spencer is two, has had two open-heart surgeries this week and is fighting for life right now. The Lord has brought him back from the edge before. Would you ask Him to continue to give him life now? And to give his young folks (Andy and Katie, who know and deeply love the Lord; Katie's seven or eight months pregnant with their younger son) and the rest of his extended family His strength and courage and peace?  

Spencer was born with half a heart, and was in the same pod as Elijah a couple of years ago in Doernbecher NICU (neonatal intensive care). Spencer has been a happy, active, very precocious, apparently healthy little guy. Weekend before last, they went to the beach (Spencer's first time) and he raced through breakfast in order to have time to build a sand castle, fly the new kite from grandpa, and go to to the aquarium.

But his heart has been failing.This past Monday he had an extremely risky open heart surgery (repair of a leaking valve and a Fontan procedure, basically a reconstruction of his heart) which went extremely well.  His folks were so happy.  

But his heart was more damaged than they'd realized and wasn't able to pump the additional pressure resulting from the valve repair.  His liver and kidneys shut down.  They raced him back to emergency surgery Wednesday (a valve replacement) and his numbers have improved since then but he remains extremely fragile.
